How To Apply Makeup in Five Minutes
You have exactly five minutes before rushing out the door. Here are the steps you can follow to apply your makeup in as little as five minutes.
1. Dot on moisturizer. In most cases it is recommended that you wait for ten minutes before applying foundation but there will be times when we simply havent the time.
2. Apply foundation and blend. I was always a big sponge user and while I have no problem with them I have found something even better. A foundation brush gives great coverage without sponge marks. In fact no one will ever guess that you even have foundation on.
3. Apply blush and blend. Powder blushes are the easiest to apply.
4. Apply your favorite eye shadow. A light coverage is all you will need.
5. Apply eyeliner according to eye shape. As we are working on limited time concentrate on the outer corners. Less chance of a messy application.
6. Apply mascara to lashes.
7. Using a fat brown pencil apply color to brow bone and blend.
8. If your brows need color apply it now with small strokes of a pencil.
9. Color your lips. A lipbrush gives a better application and takes no more time than lipstick straight from a tube.
10. Powder your nose and t-zone with loose powder.
11. Check your blush and add a tiny bit more if necessary.
Tips:
1. Before you begin your makeup application set out everything you need.
2. For individual How Tos on any of the above see the How To index.
3. Your five-minute makeup is perfect to take along on holidays. Its fast and easy and wont take up a lot of room.

How to Apply Lipstick
How to Apply Lipstick
Here are 16 tips on how to apply lipstick.
Dont play up the eyes and the mouth Women who wear heavy eye makeup and dark lipstick can look clownish. If you want to wear red lipstick keep the rest of your makeup light. If you are playing up the eyes keep your mouth light with a gloss or light lip color that doesnt stand out.
For plump lips apply liner just outside your natural lip line. Dab a bit of gloss in the middle of your bottom lip.
How to apply lipstick. I dot believe in rules to applying lipstick. Some women use special lipstick brushes. I own one and never ever use it. Others use their middle finger. Most women apply right from the tube. Choose whats right for you as long as the color gets on the lips youre good.
Use liner on your lips as a base. Lipstick will last longer if you fill in your lips with the liner first. If youre using light lipstick try a nude liner. Then slick your lipstick on top. Lip gloss is infamous for wearing off fast but if you fill in lips first with the liner the gloss has something to stick to.
You can line before or after you apply lipstick or gloss. Some women prefer to apply liner first arguing that you wont be able to see the natural line of your lips if you apply lipstick first. But I find lips look more natural when I line lips after I apply lipstick.
Never use a dark liner with light lipstick. Defined lips are great but make sure the liner matches the lipstick or gloss. Dark liner and light lips is tacky.
Never use a test lipstick on your lips. Its just plain unhygienic. Instead test lipstick on your fingertips. Its a closer fit to your lips than the back of your hand.
Dont throw out a bad color lipstick. Beauty editors know you can create a great lipcolor by blending lipsticks you dont like. You can also color in lips with a darker liner before applying a lipstick thats too bright.
Keep lipstick off glass. Discreetly lick your lips before taking a sip from a glass. It works
Keep lipstick off your teeth with this trick. After applying lipstick take your index finger and pop it in your mouth then pull it out. The excess lipstick will come off on your finger rather than your teeth.
Lipstick can act as a blush. But never use blush as a lipstick.
The older you are the creamier your lips should look. If your lips are thinned out and wrinkled avoid matte or a gloss and stick with a creamy lipstick.
Not all lipstick shades look good on everyone.Your skin color will determine what shades are right on you. You may like a lipstick on your friend but it may not look good on you. Orange or brown shades including corals look good on few people. These shades tend to make teeth appear yellow.
Camouflage yellowed teeth. To downplay a yellow cast to teeth try lipsticks with a bluish undertone. Shades that work include plums pinks wines and violets according to Lazarus a NYC makeup artist in the June2007 issue of O magazine.
Heal dont throw out a broken lipstick. If your lipstick breaks off simply take off the broken portion with a tissue then slowly wave a lit match under the broken piece of lipstick. When its melted a bit put it back on the base swivel it down and put it in the fridge uncovered for 30 minutes.
Lipstick done. You might notice theres still a bit of lipstick down in the tube. Scrape out the last bits with a cotton swap or orange stick and mix it with Vaseline or lip gloss in a lipstick palette. Use a lip brush to apply.

Eyeshadow Tips for Brown Eyes
Brown eyes may be the most dominant and common eye color but theyre anything but plain and common. Experiment with these eyeshadow tips to add sparkle and shine.
Almost any eyeshadow color looks fantastic with brown eyes, but there are still a few eyeshadow tips to keep in mind. Avoid using any eye makeup thats the same color as your eyes. Brown doesnt need to be accented with the same brown.Instead use a hue a little lighter or darker than your eye color to help bring out the depth of your peepers.
Basic cream, beige, tan, taupe, dark brown and chocolate brown are better tones for brown eyes that just plain brown. Amber, mahogany, copper and gold also look stunning, but only when used lightly as a highlight or accent for other tones.
Blue eyeshadow looks better with brown eyes than any other eye color. The sharp and playful contrast help make your eyes seem bright and rich. Never overdo the blue though. Try taking advantage of the complete array of blue accent color such as turquoise, navy, baby or crystal blue.
Green can match well with brown eyes, especially if your eye color leans towards a hazel hue. Stick with smoky greens, such as khaki, olive or forest green to preserve a sultry look. Use jade, grass or lime green in small amounts to makes your look outright funky.
The best thing about having brown eyes is the fun colors you can incorporate into your eye makeup. Plum, burnt orange, coral, aqua and burgundy are all suitable eyeshadow tones. These arent hues that you want to use in a heavy amounts or as part of your daily look for the office, but theyre great for a night on the town.
Remember that the best eyeshadow for brown eyes also depends on your exact skin tone. If you have a yellow tint to your flesh, you should probably stay away from any hues with heavy amounts of yellow. If you tend to appear flushed, then obviously you want to stay away from rosy or red-based hues.

Natural Make Up For Your Wedding
Would you not want to look like a princess on your wedding day? After all, it is your wedding and it comes once in a lifetime! Among all the people, the entire attention will be on you and you will be stealing all the limelight. It therefore indicates that no matter what, you cannot afford to look like a Plain Jane on your wedding. At the same time, too much make-up can make you look garish and the hot topic being discussed in your marriage could be your over-the-top look. However, there is a way to strike a balance between the two by choosing for natural make-up for your wedding. Read on useful information regarding the know-how of natural make-up for a marriage.
Eyes
Avoid any harsh lines or too much eye liner and Kajal. Your eyes can be lined according to the color of dress you will be wearing. Opt for black, grey or even brown and make sure to smoothen it out. The eye shadow is best used according to your dress and your skin tone. Warm tones like copper, chestnut brown, peaches, pink browns, etc. work the best. Avoid greens, blues or garish pinks and violets. Use generous doses of mascara to add volume to your eyes.
Lips
Exfoliate with a soft toothbrush and Vaseline. Avoid applying foundation on the lips as they get damaged. Use some moisturizer on and around the lips and then apply a warm tone of lipstick, mostly in browns, red browns or light pinks. For the pout, dab a hint of lip gloss on the center of your lips and press them together so that it spreads. Never apply the lip gloss all over the lips and don't line your lips with a harsh lip pencil. It will look as though someone drew it on your face.
Cheeks
More than your cheeks, it is the cheek bone that needs to be accentuated. Instead of shimmery blush, go for a matt look. These days, you even get liquid blush that can be applied in an upward motion starting from the apple of the cheeks to the high end of the cheek bone. It is then blended softly with finger tips. Avoid bright pinks or dark browns and stick with pale bronze or copper for a dusky complexion and pale pinks for fairer complexions.
Tips:
1. Wash your face thoroughly using a mild soap or a face-wash. If your skin is flaky or threatens to break-out, use a good scrub like apricot scrub to remove any blackheads or whiteheads.
2. Apply water based moisturizer and let it set in for 15-20 minutes before you start applying make-up. Apply little foundation, enough to even out the skin tone or hide blemishes and if you have dark circles, use a hint of concealer to blend it with the skin tone.
3. Have a trial make-up session done two weeks before your wedding. Take a digital camera and shoot pictures of yourself to get a fair idea as to how you would look on that day.
4. Get a good night's sleep before your wedding, even though you may be under a lot of stress. You cannot afford to look dull or washed out on your wedding.
5. Get your eye-brows plucked and hair waxed at least 4-5 days prior to the wedding. If you have an allergic reaction, you would have the time to cool it down.

Perfect makeup for your face shape
It is not enough to be aware of makeup trends to make your features valuable. Do you consider you face shape when you makeup?
Sure, even if we do not have round faces, makeup rules do not change, the order of application remains the same, and each of us has to match some colors 9eyeshadows or lipstick]. However, when a make-up artist gets to work, the first thing he caters for is you face shape. Thus, only by identifying your face shape and applying our advice, you can become your own make-up artist.
1. Oval face
Charlize Theron oval face In this case you can consider yourself lucky, because it comes from perfect symmetry. You can use any makeup you want: nudity, intense, contrast, smokey eyes, etc … of course taking into account the size of you eyes, lips or nose. Is important to use makeup that emphasizes the features, not hide them, or modify them. You know it’s mandatory to use two shades of foundation cream, a more open one, which you apply on the entire face, and a darker one, for temples and half lower cheeks, including chin to contour your face. To avoid the mask effect, take good care at overlapping the shades.
2. Round Face
Not only chubby women have full, round face, round face may seem smaller than other types, cheeks look bigger, and chin often is so rounded that may look like it s not there. If there are no dominant parts, between the eyes, nose and mouth, experts recommend framing the extremes, application of a brown powder or a foundation cream on cheeks and temples -- from the middle to the ear. At the same time is very important to emphasize the face, lighting up the forehead and chin [between lower lip and chin], thus achieving an elongation effect. Remember that the area under the eyes should be lighted and avoid wearing smokey eyes makeup for because your eyes will look small.
3. Square shape
Minnie Driver square face Forehead is about the same length as the jaw line, which means that the framing of your face [with darker foundation] will be in the temples area and jaw area, and you should emphasis your chin, forehead and under eye area . Also, to distract attention from the square shape, very important is to emphasize your cheeks with blush. Thus you create a feeling of expansion of the cheeks, contributing to “ovalizing†your face.
To make it easier, create 3 imaginary lines that divide your face into 3 horizontally. You add shadows on the upper extremities and lower third, and the center should be the most luminous.
4. Pear figure
Wider in the jaw area and with narrow temples, this type of face needs a lighter forehead [the center to create the impression of wideness], a lighter chin and under-eye area. Cheeks should be outlined -- starting with the right eye up to the jaw -- with darker powder to imaginary reduces the area of the cheeks.
5. Heart shape face
The opposite of pear type, this kind of figure needs light in the forehead and chin, and extremities should be shaded with a darker blush. Of course, remember light under the eyes, because your mission is to draw attention to the center of your face. Also, it is recommended not to use dark colored lipsticks, because you will attract attention on lower half of your face and the contrast will make the chin look small.

Summer Makeup Tips
The kiss of summer bestows natureand#39:s shining secret to your face as long as you do not let it dry your skin and cause those tiny summer wrinkles to appear. Try some of the
suggestions given below to revive and to sustain the natural beautyof your complexion and to add that cool, clear appearance, which is the main asset of a summer complexion.
Summer makeup should not be heavy and is mostly aimed at protecting the skin from exposure to sun rays, avoid excessive sweating, cut out the oily shine and prevent clogging
of skin pores that often result in acnes and pimples. Here are some tips to keep your skin healthy, make your makeup last longer and keep you looking fresh:
Let your skin breathe and use sheer makeup that serve more than one purposes. It is important to keep the humidity locked in as sweating dries skin out. So, lock away
your foundation for the season and use a light moisturizer with sun block instead.
Instead of using foundation to cover up freckles, use translucent tinted powder to blot the skin and add color to it.
Go for the nude natural look for the lips. Even for evening parties, it is preferable to use loose shimmer powder on arms and neck and a soft gloss on lips.
Sensual and bronze skin and natural look is the look for summers, so work on it.
Eyes should be done simply. Use neutral and soft shimmery eye shadow on lids and work on lashes instead.
Curl your lashes and use glossy black shade on them to make them appear longer and your eyes bigger. Use only a very fine line with eyeliner.
Cheek sticks and crème eye colors are easy to apply and last longer in summer.
If you must apply foundation, mix it with loose powder to keep you looking fresh throughout the day.
Foundation: The most important thing when it comes to foundation is staying power: you don't want your base to melt down your face on the most important day of your life.
Carmindy recommends trying a spray foundation for its “light airy feel, which will stay on all day.Pick a foundation that is oil-free, says Carmindy, “as this will help with
shine and not clog your pores. Don't forget to set your foundation with loose powder!
Eyes: “Waterproof mascara is a must on your big day. Even if you vowed you won't cry, take the precaution, says Carmindy. When it comes to creating your eye look, stay
away from cream based eye shadows that will oil up in the heat of summer. “Choose powder shadows, and don’t forget to apply two layers for a lasting effect, warns
Carmindy.
Blush: Blush is an essential element of your wedding day look, so don't think about skipping it because you are worried that it could cake up in the heat, or streak down your
face. Carmindy recommends a mousse or powder blush for its long-lasting power. “A nice summery look is bronzer, so place blush on key parts of your face like the temples
and cheekbones. This will create nice lighting to your face, advises Carmindy.
Lips: a Don't think about just throwing on a little gloss for your big day. It will fade and look terrible in pictures, says Carmindy. For a long-lasting pout, first use a light lip
pencil to shape your lips and fill in. Second, add a moisturizing lipstick on top. For the finale and an extra pop, add lip gloss to the middle of your lips!

How to Apply Black Eye Makeup
Black eye makeup is a versatile style as it can be worn during the day or for a night on the town. A smoky and glamorous effect can be achieved with a few touches. Read on to learn how to do black eye makeup.
Steps:
1. Apply moisturizer to the entire face, including the delicate eye area. Let the moisturizer dry. Apply your preferred foundation or base as normal. Be sure to apply the base to the eye area as well. If using finishing powder or mineral make up, do not add any to the eyelids.
2. Brush on a neutral eye shadow color over the eyelid when applying black eye makeup. Color may be added later, to the crease of the eyelid. Placing the eye shadow is one way to not cover up the black eye make up.
3. Open the black liquid eyeliner. Bush off any excess liner, until you can see the shape of the eyeliner brush. Too much liquid liner on the brush will cause a clumpy look or it could drip during application.
4. Line the lash line of the upper eyelid with black liquid liner. The black liquid liner will create a solid and straight line of black eye makeup. Apply the black liquid liner yourself, since it can cause a tickling sensation. Use a steady hand to apply the liquid black eyeliner, starting from the inside corner of the eye and moving the hand and brush steadily outward.
5. Apply the liquid liner to the bottom lash line. Start at the outside of the eye, where the line should be the thickest. As you move the eyeliner brush to the inside of the eye, make the line thinner.
6. Repeat the steps on the other eye. Let the liquid eyeliner dry. Touch up any gaps or spaces in the line of liquid eyeliner. For a more dramatic effect, make the black eye make up lines on the outer corner of the eyes thicker than the other lines. Let it dry.
7. Apply a neutral shade of eyeshadow to the eye crease. Use a gray or brown eyeshadow, or any neutral color that complements your eye color. For a smoky effect, apply dark gray shadow the entire eyelid and the crease.
8. Curl the eyelashes with an eyelash curler. Apply a coat of black mascara. Let the mascara dry.
Warnings:
1. dark heavy make-up is not for everyone, if you skin is sensitive try it at home first, in case it starts to irritate the skin.
2. make sure to know where little kids in your house are so you donand#39:t end up stabbing yourself in the eye-it hurts...a lot

10 Clever Tips for Applying Makeup
Many women feel completely naked without their makeup, but it can look artificial when it is not applied correctly. Applying makeup isnand#39:t as easy as you think. You need to work with your face shape and its contours, and you need to blend it properly so that lines donand#39:t stand out on your skin. With the right makeup techniques, however, you can minimize flaws and enhance your natural beauty.
Eyes
Before you try out any makeup techniques for your eyes, it is important to make sure that you choose the right shades of eye shadow. The only way to find out for sure if you have the right color is to do some experimentation with various shades and colors.
Many women are in search of eye makeup application tips that will help enhance their natural eye color. It is a good idea to use a natural shade of eyeliner, such as dark brown or gray, which wonand#39:t look as harsh as a black stripe of eyeliner. Apply it in a thin line on both the top and bottom lids. As for eyeshadow, choose a color that contrasts with your natural eye color. The contrast will make your eyes stand out even more.
Dark undereye circles can easily be minimized or even completely hidden with the right shade of concealer. Pick a concealer with a warm undertone, which will fight the cooler undertones of dark circles. Apply an undereye concealer to the area below your eye, beginning directly beneath the tear duct and extending over and downward to the other end of the eye. Once youand#39:ve applied it, be sure to blend with a brush, sponge or your own fingers so you donand#39:t have light rings under your eyes. The light rings look almost as bad as dark undereye circles. Another cause of dark undereye circles is smudged mascara. Go with a waterproof mascara so you donand#39:t look like youand#39:ve lost sleep.
If you suffer from puffy eyes, you probably want to minimize or hide them. Before you use any type of makeup, you will want to put a hot compress on your eyes, to see if this reduces the puffiness. In this case, you may want to use a minimal amount of makeup. Only using a tiny amount of eye shadow and little to no eyeliner or mascara will draw less attention to your eye puffiness.
Last of all, donand#39:t forget your eyebrows, which frame your eyes. Few people notice eyebrows, unless they are done badly, and bad brows will ruin the rest of your makeup look. If you are a novice at plucking your eyebrows, go to a professional to get the right shape, and then maintain it on your own. Also try to resist making your eyebrows too thin, as it is more difficult to fill in gaps than to work with the eyebrows you already have.
Lips
For fuller lips, you will want to use a lip liner to line the lips, enlarging your bottom lip just a little bit. Fill the lips in with liner, apply a bold shade of lipstick or gloss and dab a little bit of lighter gloss in the center of your bottom lip. Practice several times with the lip liner, especially if you are trying to maximize or minimize your lips. Drawing a line too far away from the natural edge of your lips might make you look like a clown.
Even if you achieve the perfect lip look, you might have trouble getting it to last. You could go with a long-lasting lipstick, but some people find these products to be too dry and chalky. If you are not a fan of long-lasting lipstick, you will want to color your lips in with a pencil and then apply your lipstick on top of it. The pencil acts as a glue and should hold your lipstick on all day long.
Cheeks
If you have been told that you have a great bone structure, consider defining your cheekbones. This is one of the easiest makeup techniques to learn and master, but it will take practice, as it is easy to overdo it. All you need to do is suck in your cheekbones and sweep a very medium bronze and a highlighting shimmer to create a shadowy appearance. If you try this out as one of your regular makeup techniques, always remember to suck your cheeks in and smile when you are finished to make sure that there are no smears. Also, donand#39:t overcontour. Bars on the side of your face never look good, and the edges of the blush and highlighter should be soft.
Basic Skin Care
Whether you are going to try out new makeup techniques for the eyes, cheeks or lips, it is important to make sure that you do not forget about a regular skin care routine. This means that you will need to cleanse, tone and moisturize. Without a proper skin care routine, no makeup will look good on your skin.

Best Makeup Tips for Dark Skin
A lot of people seem to feel and believe that makeup looks good only on fair skin. Prepare to be surprised because the truth is, makeup may look just as flattering on dark skin. The key is to know what particular makeup to use. For dark skin, the best foundation to use must be water-based. Dark skin has a tendency to look oily, and using cream foundation will only worsen the effect. The water-based foundation must be of a shade closest to your skin tone.
Next, follow up the foundation with a dust of loose powder. Be careful not to over dust, especially around the eye area. Once you have done this, the next step is to choose eyeshadow colors for your eyes. Shades of brown and bronze are very flattering on dark skin; so are dark metallic colors. White or very light colors will look great on fair skin, but they will not have the same effect on dark skin. Purple and blue hues may also look great on dark skin.
Make up Dark SkinNow, outline your eyes with dark eye lining pencil. Eyeliners in black or chocolate brown is preferred. Next, thicken your eyelash with at least two coats of dark mascara to draw attention to the eyes.
You may also use a highlighter on the bridge of your nose, around your eye or above the cheek bones and upper lip.
When choosing the right shade of lipstick, go for more intense colors, like dark reds or corals. Lipsticks in burgundy will also look pleasing on dark skin. For your blush, warm colors in rose or deep orange are highly recommended for dark skin. If you are going to a night of fun and entertainment with friends, you may add a bit of drama to your cheeks by dusting your cheeks with a hint of gold color.

Causes
Dark under eye circles are extremely common. Causes of under eye circles and under eye discoloration are, lack of sleep, smoking, poor circulation and stress
Concealers
Concealers are created with a denser composition and perfectly designed for their intended use. They are designed for small area coverage and are not the makeup product for full face application Foundation alone cannot be enough to cover your dark under eye circles as it is transparent. Color Choices

Your skin tone will be your guide as to which shade of concealer will best suit you. It is safe to go one half to one shade lighter than your under eye circles. A golden toned concealer such as will counteract the blue-purple tones and look the most natural for you. Dark circle you can go with dropping down one full shade lighter but you will have to be much more cautious with blending when you apply.
Application
To hide dark under eye circles, select a cosmetic under-eye concealer that's one shade lighter than the foundation you're using. Understand that a pale yellowish concealer helps hide blue or grayish circles, while a light blue or mauvish concealer masks brownish under-the-eye bags.

Impressive Eye make up
Eye Shadow
The most dramatic eye makeup starts with eye shadow that stands out and makes the eye pop. It is achieved by using a light eye shadow from the edge of the lashes all the way up to the brow bone.
This is then accentuated by a single line of dark eye shadow on the crease of the eye. This makes the eye appear larger.
Another means of achieving a dramatic look is by using vibrant colors. These examples can be seen in exclusive fashion magazines. The use of bright colors like red, blue, and green adds drama to the overall appearance.
Eyeliner and Mascara
Eyeliner is further used to define the eyes. It can be used on both the upper and lower eyelids. From the upper eyelid, it may be swept up from the corner of the eye.
Eyeliner on the bottom eyelid can be swept outwards for a dramatic look. Mascara can be used to add volume to the eyelashes and make them appear fuller, thicker, and darker. Two coats may be applied for a dramatic look. This look can be completed by using false eyelashes.
Origin & Trivia
Impressive eye makeup originated in the 1960’s. It was called the Smokey cat eye look. The eyeliner was applied in a thick line. One can look up various websites to understand how to achieve the smoky eye effect.
Asian eyes benefit from black eyeliner that extends beyond the corner of the eye. Mascara applied in two thick coats will define the eyes effectively. Bright eye shadow colors like blues and greens will add drama to the overall effect.

My Glam WARNING
I tried to give a friend a 1 year subscription to My Glam- ordered it on 12/2/11. My credit card was charged on 12/2/11. After 5 days, I never received any sort of confirmation or any communication with them. On their website, there is no way to talk to customer service, so I emailed but heard nothing back. I got the number of the business office, where they answered the phone "hello?". Not professional. They told me that My Glam was out of stock but they had no way to access my account and recommended I email again. This time I did get a response. They did not answer my questions about whether or not there would be stock- they totally ignored my questions. So, I asked for a refund. They told me it would take 3-5 days. I have been waiting- over 2 weeks. The customer service girl named Nicole Robinson-Anderson told me in 2 separate emails that PayPal, who they use, had in fact refunded my money. However, that was not true. When I contacted PayPal, they said there was no request made for a refund and they said because it was via a "electronic PayPal" user, I would have to dispute it with my credit card company. PayPal also told me that their records show that My Glam (aka personalized beauty discovery) has a "freeze" on their account which means there would be no refunds available, even if they had requested one.
This company is in over their head. They are lying to those of you who are being told you will receive product soon, and they are deceitful in their dealings with customers. I would recommend trying Birchbox, as they have been wonderful to deal with and have great glam products.
not trying to defend them but when you signed up on 12/2, your subscription would start in january. i don't think anyone gets a conf. email after being billed (neither does birchbox send out one of those). how do you know they were trying to scam you out of your money?
did it say in "myglam account" that no payment was made?

I don't know how much money you're willing to drop on a primer, but I really love using MAC's paint pot in Painterly as my eyeshadow primer. I have super oily and greasy eyelids that eyeshadows typically just slide off of within an hour, but this stuff has kept everything on and in place!

Cleaning your airbursh system
Hello,
just got my airbrush system and i am curious what are the alternative products I can use to clean out my airbrush. Right now I have s/b foundation. The cleanser that it came with is very small and has really no indication of what it really is so I have now idea. How do you clean out the product off on yours?
Oh and I got the temptu one...
I just add a few drops of cleaner/water/alcohol into the MU cup & 'Backbubble' a little (turn on, cover front nozzle with tissue & pull lever back & watch solution bubble in cup) this sprays the cleaner back in the brush cleaning it & than just spray the rest out into tissue or sink & I always finish off with spraying out water & im done that pretty much clears the needle & if theres any Mu in the cup you can use a q tip

My December Glymm Box
This month was OK, not as exciting and good as previous months. I really thought they would include something special.
I hope they won't be placing AHAVA over and over again like I've been seeing in Birchbox.
Here is what I got:
Caudalie / Vinoperfect Enzymatic Peel Mask / 3ml / gently dissolves dead skin cells - too small!
Ahava / Dead Sea Mineral Hand Cream / 20ml / Lightweight, yet nourishing
Yves Saint Laurent / La Parisienne / 7.5ml / floral and feminine
Sula Beauty / Natural Lip Gloss in Come Find Me / Full size at 2.69g / retail price $8 / soothing, but reminds me of cough syrup?

7 Reasons Why Preservative-Free Cosmetics are Rare
Here at the Beauty Brains, we get asked about preservatives in cosmetics all the time. People wonder why compounds with potential safety issues like formaldehyde or parabens are used. Should they use self-preserving cosmetics? They also ask why cosmetic companies don’t get rid of preservatives.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could? Cosmetic chemists, cosmetic manufacturers and certainly cosmetic marketers would love to get rid of preservatives.
Unfortunately, the disease-causing microbes would love it too. There are some companies that offer preservative free products but not many. Here are the top reasons why more companies aren’t making preservative-free cosmetics.
1. Preservative free cosmetics don’t last as long
A standard cosmetic can have a shelf life of 1 or even 2 years or more. This is great for those products you have stuffed in your medicine cabinet or bathroom drawers. You can feel confident that if you open them up tomorrow you won’t get Tetanus or Gangrene. A preservative-free cosmetic won’t last more than a couple of weeks. It’ll spoil just about as fast as milk and become dangerous.
2. Because they need to be refrigerated
Unless it is put in some special packaging, preservative free cosmetics need to be refrigerated to keep them safe. You wouldn’t eat fish you left out on the counter overnight so you shouldn’t use unpreserved cosmetics that haven’t been refrigerated either. This refrigeration step is a huge inconvenience for people so manufacturers just don’t think people will want to do it. Consumer research has proven them right.
3. Because they can easily get contaminated
You know how there is the common, good advice that you shouldn’t share your cosmetics with anyone? Do you know why? Because each time you use cosmetics, you expose yourself to microbial contamination. Even when there are preservatives the microbes can live in small numbers. Your body is used to your bacteria but other people may not be. Preservative free cosmetics are even more prone to contamination and can pick up any sinister microbe that happens to be floating in the air. When people get sick using cosmetics, it’s bad for product’s manufacturer.
4. Because they are more expensive to make
It is possible to make preservative free cosmetics. You can use special packaging or make them anhydrous (water-free). Unfortunately, both of these options can double, triple, or quadruple the cost for manufacturing. And while most people don’t mind spending $5 on a lip balm, spending $20 for the same thing that is merely preservative free is harder to get them to accept. The other problem is that these cosmetics typically don’t work as well. They are more greasy, sticky and just less appealing.
5. Because natural preservatives don’t work as well
One strategy for creating preservative free cosmetics is to use natural preservatives. Technically the products aren’t preservative free but from an advertising and legal standpoint, they are. In the EU there is a list of ingredients you can use for product preservation. If you don’t use any of those ingredients, you can call yourself “preservative free”. Unfortunately, as this article points out, natural preservatives do not work as well as the standard ones.
6. Because natural preservatives aren’t approved
The article also points out the second major problem with natural preservatives. They are too expensive to get approved. A natural preservative manufacturer would have to spend millions of dollars on their new ingredient and there is no guarantee it would get on the approved list of preservatives. No company wants to take that chance. Therefore, don’t look for natural preservatives anytime soon.
7. Because preserved cosmetics are safe
Probably the most important reason you don’t see more preservative free cosmetics is because the preserved products work great and are perfectly safe. True, some of the compounds used to preserve products can be nasty stuff but when used at low enough levels they are harmless. Cosmetic marketers just don’t find people willing enough to spend extra money for a benefit that is imperceivable. And if people aren’t going to buy the product, cosmetic companies aren’t going to make it.

Revlon lip butters
Have you tried these?
What are your thoughts?
I haven't tried them but I've watched a few youtube videos on them and they seem really different than any drugstore product out there. I really like the red colors but could never wear them on my lips because they're too bold for me.
For those that don't know it's basically a lipstick and a chapstick in one. It's got the moisturization of a chapstick but the color payoff of a lipstick. So the colors more opaque than a tinted moisturizer.

Inglot at Macy's
Hi ladies, I was in Macy's in Union Square in San Francisco the other day and I was extremely excited to see that they now sell Inglot. I used to have no way to purchase it besides online, but now Macy's sells it. They have the freedom system and everything, I was super psyched. Since it's popped up in SF, they will probably start popping up in Macys' across the country. Just letting you all know, especially for those of you who live in the Bay Area.
For any who don't know - Inglot is a Polish makeup brand that has recently become very popular in the US, and it's getting a lot of hype from the beauty community. I personally love Inglot and their eyeshadow palettes, which do get a lot of hype and really live up to it. Their lipgloss is also amazing, in my opinion.
